Grave Talk

On Saturday 18 November at All Saints Church, Stretford, held an event called Grave Matters. Funeral Director, Paul Birkett of C L Birkett & Son went along to discuss his work as a Funeral Director. The discussions were informative, and people seemed to appreciate the chance to talk about a subject that is so often taboo. After the event people said they thought it was a good thing to do and that it gave them ideas to help them think about preparing for their own funerals with some saying they felt more confident talking about the subject with their families.

Paul said, ‘I was extremely proud to have been asked to attend this event by Reverend Mary Hough of All Saints. I’ve had a long association with the Church, being Christened there and two of my Grandparents funerals were held there many years ago. We have looked after many families who have had funerals at All Saint’s during the last 40 years, so I think the enjoyed seeing a friendly face they knew and I’m glad I could help answer their questions.’
